People like simple email newsletters...

By Max St John

I'm not about to tell you there's something wrong with sending a monthly email newsletter. We do it ourselves.

It's a great marketing tool and keeps the lines of communication with your customers open.

Just make sure you're not overloading them with information.

Qube run a monthly Email Clinic over at www.emailmarketingmanual.com looking at email marketing campaigns that aren't doing the job they were designed for.

The most common problem? A lack of focus. Far too often, businesses are trying to tell their customers about everything at once. This usually comes from the temptation to appeal to as many people as possible, but the end result is usually just some very confused readers.

Targeted email marketing, the kind that works, should have one clear message and one clear focus. Designs should lead the readers eye straight to your key point, and messaging should tell them the one thing you want them to go away with, even if they only give your newsletter a cursory glance.

It might sound like a simple point - and it is. But simple is good.
