Lancaster University. Social Media Vision Day
"We are now in a strong position with a coherent strategy for the redevelopment of our online communications."
Dion Wiliams - Operations Manager
Lancaster University's Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) manages university collaboration and involvement in business and the community.
The challenge
In its role to help drive economic growth in the region, the centre wanted to build stronger relationships with the academics internally and small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the local community, using the web.
There was also a requirement to demonstrate the success of the centre, both within the University and externally with funding organisations and large companies, which the current website wasn't meeting.
Lancaster University invited Qube to develop a strategy which could meet these needs.
The results
"We found the workshops a very useful experience - it was good to get everyone together to discuss the
issues. We are now in a strong position with a coherent strategy for the redevelopment of our online
communications. This should prove very influential for future funding rounds."
Dion Williams - Operations Manager
What we did
Vision Day
In our experience, the way to understand an organisation and find solutions is to meet and talk to all the stakeholders involved. We held vision workshops so all relevant parties could contribute to the process.
Roadmap
We researched and wrote a detailed report setting out our findings and recommendations. These included:
- Use the website to build a strong and regular connection between the target audiences and the centre
- Update the current rather confusing branding to develop a clear identity and objective for the site
- Divide the website into an external facing community and an internal facing community, each clearly focused on its particular target audience
- Instigate a clear community policy and promotional strategy for each, focused on engaging and building stronger relationships with the target audiences on an ongoing basis.
