Dr Lindsay Parkin. Community Consultant
I'm Qube's psychologist, and we need one.
As the community development consultant I make sure everything we do is about people rather than stuff, although of course, stuff helps. I specialise in designing and implementing development programmes for organisations and their people.
I'm interested in communication and behaviour, and that's what social media is all about. I've spent the past (nearly) 20 years helping individuals and organisations improve the ways they communicate, to achieve what they have to achieve. From academic research, lecturing, learning and development and designing and implementing programs for change, I have worked to improve outcomes when people talk to people. Social media? Same exercise, different medium.
I have a first degree in experimental psychology and did my doctoral thesis on 'Children's understanding of misrepresentation' (that's lying, is there any more complicated form of commuication?). Since then I have been working as an independent consultant in all forms of learning and development from individual coaching through workshop training to larger group forum.
Recently I have;
- Trained senior staff in the Govt office network to facilitate 'challenging' meetings;
- Managed communication with staff at all levels during the re-structuring or a unitary authority;
- Trained trainers and facilitators for Mercedes Benz.
- Worked with Andrew to introduce the idea of 'communities of practice' to the NPIA (and set up a couple).
I'm very nice and my favourite colour is not worth falling out over - what's yours?
